400 Year Old Japanese Samurai Sword by Kanekado

In Japan, the Samurai sword is of great cultural importance, and in all of the world these swords represent workmanship at its highest art, the culmination of the most perfect steel swords made. The Samurai typically wore two swords, a long sword and a medium sword. The Wakizashi is the medium sword, and this one was made by the swordsmith, Kanekado, one of the leading swordsmiths in late Muromachi era, who was living in Mino-no-Kuni (southern Gifu). This sword was made about 1600, so it is 400 years old! The blade measures 18" from the tip to the tsuba, with a beautiful hamon line, and 24" overall.

This Wakizashi has just arrived from Japan after completion of all required government permit requirements, and where it was registered at National Swords and Cultural Asset Association by its previous owner living in Ishikawa-Prefecture (Register #15792). This registration has been transfered (with all papers) to an American owner, who is no longer able to keep it in his home, thus it is available at this terrific price!
