A.T. Barr

A.T. Barr (1945–2021), hailing from Texas, quietly shaped the world of folding knives. Beginning in 1979 and shifting to full-time making in the early 2000s, he won acclaim for his elegant gentleman’s folders and his design of the iconic Spyderco “One‑Eyed Jack” liner‑lock—a factory collaboration that translated an artisan’s touch into accessible quality. A longtime voting member of the Knifemakers Guild and mentor to emerging craftsmen, Barr remained humble and principled. He passed at 75 after a brief illness, remembered as a patriot, teacher, and one of the good guys
