Barry Wood
Barry Wood (1930s–2014) was an engineer‑turned‑knifemaker whose garage creations from 1967 revolutionized folding knives with a unique “swing‑lock” mechanism that folds the blade fully into the handle. His innovation caught Colt’s attention, leading to the 1969 Colt Tuckaway Folder. Wood also pioneered use of 154 CM and VascoWear steels, exotic handle materials, and collaborated with Loveless and Russell. His precision-engineered, one-handed folders remain prized collectibles for their mechanical ingenuity and timeless design.
