Charles Bennica
Charles Bennica, known as Charly, is a French custom knifemaker from Moules‑et‑Baucels who began forging exceptional pieces in 1988, drawing on his background as a tool‑and‑die specialist. His work—ranging from fixed integral blades to double and inter‑frame folders—is marked by precision machining, mirror‑polished ATS‑34 or custom Damascus blades, and luxurious inlays such as mammoth ivory, coral, jade, fossil ivory, and gold. He also develops proprietary locking systems that remain concealed yet reliable. Rare and highly collectible, Bennica’s knives frequently debut at Solvang, AKI, and East Coast shows and are featured in Art and Design in Modern Custom Folding Knives. His creations include matched fixed‑blade/folder sets and deluxe “Opus One” pieces with five ivory inlays—true masterpieces that blend technical finesse with artistic elegance.
