Jim Whitehead was a self taught knife maker and engraver from Fresno, California. He began teaching himself to engrave around 1981.
His career has mainly focused in the jewelry business as a manufacturing jeweler.
Jim designed and made rings earrings pendants and different things out of silver and gold and platinum. He worked as a jeweler for over 50 years.
Jim first taught himself how to engrave rings and things around the same time he started to make miniature knives. The smallest knife Jim had made is 3/16 of an inch long in the largest knife Jim has made is 9 1/2 inches long.
Most of the knives that Jim has made feature his sole authorship engraving. Jim Whitehead was master miniature knife maker and engraver. Jim has been sorely missed by the custom knife community since his passing.
