Bill Moran Custom Knife Master Smith Hand Forged Damascus Hunter with Fine Silver Wire Inlaid Flame Maple with Wood Lined Leather Sheath and Half Moon
This is ultra rare and extremely desirable Hand Forged Damascus Hunter made by Bill Moran. In all of the years that Bill Moran forged knives it is believed that he made less than 50 Damascus knives in total.
By 1973, when he reinvented Damascus steel, W.F. "Bill" Moran Jr. had already been handcrafting knives for 25 years. His ability to craft high end custom made knives earned him a reputation as one of the most well known modern bladesmiths of his time. "The Father of Modern Damascus" would go on to found the American Bladesmith Society and be inducted in to the Blade Magazine Hall of Fame in 1986 and the ABS Bladesmithing Hall of Fame in 1996.
Offered here is one of his Damascus Hunters which is 1 of 50 Damascus knives produced by Bill Moran. This example features a 5 - 1/2" Damascus blade with splendid pattern marked "MORAN" and "DAMASCUS" on either side of the ricasso. Nickel silver guard and pommel with curly maple grip that features inlaid silver wire. IT comes complete with Moran marked leather scabbard with tooled designs on front and half moon decoration.
