Patti and I would like to thank Mike and your company, for representing the sales to date and continuing of a substantial portion of my folding-blade knife collection of approximately 100 knives, mostly in unused and only lightly handled condition, acquired over a period of approximately 30 years during a period including the turn of the last century.
During the latter part of 2024, when I decided to sell my knife collection, I thought initially that I would advertise and sell my collection of folders to interested buyers directly. Although I was initially successful, primarily with one buyer from the mid-west, I soon learned that I was probably more lucky than skillful in this area. I did not know current pricing for the older knife makers making up the bulk of my collection. I was at least partially unaware of many of the risks involved in consummating each sale, including the shipping of each knife in question, the timely collection of the agreed to sales price for each knife sold and the need for adequate insurance to cover me for each sale transaction.
When I happened to mention the issues to one of my direct sale customers from the midwest with whom I had become friendly with during the period he had purchased several knives from me, he recommended that I contact Mike Donato, the owner of Knife Purveyor to act as my agent for preparing, advertising, selling and shipping my knives upon sale. After several weeks of discussion with Mike and other knife purveyors, my wife and I decided to engage Mike and Knife Purveyor to represent the sale of my remaining unsold collection. He appeared to have an extensive knowledge for how to go about this without taking costly shortcuts, we negotiated a fair knife preparation fee-for-sale cost (including a high/low sale price for each knife without having to speak to me), a fair commission for the sale of each knife, and a monthly accounting of each knife sold during that month and the commission charged for each knife sold, and the automatic direct distribution into my checking account at the end of each month for the net balance due to me for that month.
After dealing with Mike for approximately 6 months, I have found Mike easy to contact and reliable to deal with. If any further questions, feel free to contact me.
