Reese Bose Custom Knife 3 1/4″ Stag Wharncliff Trapper

This 3 1/4 " wharncliff trapper with front bolsters and double bomb shield was made by Reese Bose. The blades are hand rubbed ATS 34 steel and is hafted in presentation grade stag. This knife is one of the first two built in this size, although being fitted with un-numbered blades. The knife looks indistinguishable from those hafted 100 or 150 years ago - the stag is that nice and in that pattern and color. Without question, some of the nicest stag ever pinned onto any Bose knife. The original owner did not like the fact that the wharncliff blade sat up slightly higher than the clip, so he lowered it slightly so they would sit flush with one another. Consequently that blade is rebated .03" relative to the springs and liners in the closed position only. Visible, but not obvious, and better than many slipjoint makers out there. No effect on function, flush in remaining two positions. Nonetheless, he did not want Reese to find out what he did to the knife, so it is to remain off the open market and internet. The blade action on this knife is secure and easy, and the blades perfectly ground. All in all , a beautiful little knife, hafted in gorgeous natural stag that almost disappears into your pocket. Probably the most practical Bose knife to carry and use on a daily basis. These are almost never offered for sale. One of their most popular patterns ever and still. A great knife to carry and use.
